(Letter to the Inspector of Yang, Yin Hao) was a letter written by Wang Biaozhi to Yin Hao, who was the Inspector of Yang Province at that time.

Bits of informationEdit

Wang Biaozhi lived from 305-377.[1] He was a writer for the Jin Dynasty. His jiguan (home of record, or ancestral home) was Linyi 臨沂 county in Langye 琅邪 commandery, Xu Province 徐州.

Yin Hao lived until 356 and was an Inspector for the Jin Dynasty.

In 351 a certain Huan Wen 桓溫 wanted to launch an expedition to recover the north. Yin Hao was used by the imperial court to thwart Huan Wen's ambitions. Rather than risk a conflict with Huan Wen, Yin Hao proposed to resign from his post.[2] At that time Wang Biaozhi argued that Yin Hao should remain in his post.[3] Yin Hao was convinced and remained and he instead asked Jin Emperor Sima Yu 司馬昱 to write a carefully worded letter to Huan, persuading Huan to stop.

The letter that Wang Biaozhi wrote to convince Yin Hao is included in the Records of the Three Kingdoms. See below.
