Xiaquyang 下曲陽 was a city in Julu commandery in Ji province.

Xiaquyang during Later Han and Three KingdomsEdit

In 184 AD, and probably several years before 184, Xiaquyang served as the headquarters of the brothers Zhang Jue 張角, Zhang Bao 張寶 and Zhang Liang 張梁, the founders of the religious sect Way of Great Peace (Tàipíng Dào 太平道) and instigators of the later Yellow Turban Rebellion.[2]

Xiaquyang was one of two important cities in Julu occupied by the Yellow Turbans, the other being Guangzong 廣宗, wich lay south of Xiaquyang.

  1. According to the Zizhi Tongjian Dong Zhuo did not attack Xiaquyang, but went south to attack Guanzong[4].
